Woman's Hour



         


Woman's Hour is a British radio programme. It was first broadcast on 7th October 1946 on The Light Programme (now known as BBC Radio 2). In 1973 it transferred to BBC Radio 4. As the name suggests the programme lasts for an hour and is aimed at women. The first 45 minutes usually consists of interviews, debates and reports, the last 15 consists of a drama serial.

Presenters

It was created by Norman Collins originally presented by Alan Ivimey. It was subsequently presented by Olive Shapley, Jean Metcalfe (1947, 1958), Marjorie Anderson (until 1972), Sue MacGregor (1970s) Jenni Murray (1987 - present), Martha Kearney (1998 - present), Sheila McClennon (?-present).
