William Oliver Lipinski (born December 22 1937), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1983, representing the 3rd District of Illinois. He was born in Chicago, was educated at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, served in the United States Army Reserves, and was an administrator with the Chicago Park District and a member of the Chicago City Council before entering the House. On August 13, 2004, Lipinski withdrew his name from the November 2 election ballot, announcing that he would retire at the end of his current term, which expires in January 2005.
