William Jones (1760–September 6, 1831) was an American politician.
He was a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1760; completed academic studies; served in the American Revolutionary War, joining a company of volunteers at the age of sixteen; moved to Charleston, South Carolina and then returned to Pennsylvania.
He was elected as a Republican to the 7th Congress and then appointed Secretary of the Navy in the Presidential Cabinet James Madison and served from January 12, 1813, to December 2, 1814; president of the Bank of the United States 1816-1819; collector of customs in Philadelphia, Pa., 1827-1829.
He died in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1831.
