William Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan was a noted military officer, who served as quartermaster general (among other positions) to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough. He played a major role in the Battle of Oudenarde, and commanded the prestigious Grenadier Guards for some time.
