W-Broadway Local

The W Broadway Local is a service of the New York City Subway. It is colored yellow since it uses the BMT Broadway Line through midtown Manhattan. Service runs local from Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard to Whitehall Street, and only from the beginning of morning rush hour to 21:00 on weekdays.

Service history

Before February 23, 2004, the W operated as the Brooklyn half of the B during Phase II of the Manhattan Bridge Reconstruction, operating between Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria and Coney Island, in Brooklyn. Now that the construction is completed, the W becomes a part-time local service along the BMT Broadway Line.
