VR6

VR6 is an engine configuration developed by the Volkswagen Group. It is similar to the V engine, but with the cylinders offset from each other and tilted by 15° instead of 90°. This is most easily visualized from this top-down perspective:

Traditional Volkswagen V6 VR6 0 0 0 \ 60° 0 0 0 \ 15° 0 0 0 / 0 0 0 /

The narrow angle between cylinder banks allows just two camshafts to drive all of the valves, and a single cylinder head to be used. The main advantage of the VR6 design is a compact but fairly powerful engine.
