Volksmusic

Volksmusik is a style of music, usually, though not always, with a singer or singers (duets being particularly common), which is highly popular (mainly with older people) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It features strongly in peak-time television broadcasts on a number of German television channels including ARD and ZDF, but is not featured on private TV channels because of the younger target audience (the advertising industry's relevant group of ages up to 49 years) of these channels.
