Vibhajyavada (or Vibhajjavada) (Pali), literally "Teaching of Analysis". Simply an umbrella classification for the subsects, that promote the concept of "Analysis". During the Third Council, all orthodox schools which was sub-division of Sthaviravada (Sanskrit) that have split during the reign of Emperor Asoka was regrouped into this new group. This school promote the the critical method of investigation as opposed to blind faith. Where the answer has to be found out, by the aspirant, after being convinced by valid thought and experience, in order to reach the first glimpse of the goal.
This school was introduced to Sri Lanka by Venerable Mahinda, son of Emperor Asoka, who brought with him the Pali Canon. Vibhajjavada was known today as Theravada, which promote the concept of "Analysis".
