Vestby



         


The municipality Vestby in the county of Akershus, Norway, has 12,724 inhabitants as of January 1, 2003. It covers an area of 133 km² (55,35 square miles). Main villages are Vestby, Pepperstad Skog, Hølen, Hvitsten, Garder, and Son. The last mentioned was, from the Renaissance until the 1700s, the place of an important harbour. On some Dutch maps from that time, Oslofjord is called Zoon Water.
