USS Valley Forge

Two ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Valley Forge, in memory of the hardships of the winter at Valley Forge during the American Revolutionary War.

The first Valley Forge (CV-45) was an aircraft carrier commissioned in 1946, active in the Korean War, converted to an amphibious assault ship LPH-8, and serving in the Vietnam War until decommissioning in 1970.
The second Valley Forge (CG-50) is a guided missile cruiser commissioned in 1986 and on active service as of 2004.

A spaceship named the Valley Forge appears in the 1971 film Silent Running.
