USS Savannah

Five ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Savannah, after the city of Savannah, Georgia.

The first Savannah was a 1-gun galley built in 1799.

The second Savannah was a sailing frigate launched in 1842.

The third Savannah (AS-8) was a submarine tender in World War I.

The fourth Savannah (CL-42) was a light cruiser in service during World War II.

The fifth Savannah (AOR-4) was a fast attack oiler in service from 1970 to 1995.
