The third USS Rhode Island (SSBN-740) is the 15th of 18 Ohio-class submarines in the United States Navy.
Built by the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Groton, Connecticut, Rhode Island was commissioned in 9 July 1994. Captain John K. Eldridge was the first Blue Crew Commanding Officer, and Commander Michael Maxfield was the Commanding Officer for the Gold Crew.
She is part of the Atlantic Fleet and homeported in Kings Bay, Georgia.
