Uesugi Kenshin



         


Uesugi Kenshin (1530 - 1578) is samurai who ruled Echigo province in the Sengoku Period of Japan.

In 1548, he became the owner of the castle of Haruyama and was engaged in the Battle of Kawanakajima with Takeda Shingen.

His original name was Nagao Kagetora. Later he renamed his name to Uesugi Masatora, Terutora and consecutively and Kenshin after he became a buddist.
