U.S. Senate Committee on Finance



         


The U.S. Senate Committee on Finance (or, less formally, Senate Finance Committee) is a standing committee of the United States Senate. It is concerns itself with matters relating to the bonded debt of the United States; customs, collection districts, and ports of entry and delivery; deposit of public moneys; general revenue sharing; health programs under the Social Security Act and health programs financed by a specific tax or trust fund; national social security; reciprocal trade agreements; revenue measures generally and those relating to the insular possessions; tariff and import quotas, and related matters thereto; and the transportation of dutiable goods. It is one of the oldest committees in the Senate, dating back to the beginning of the Senate, and having been chaired by such notable senators as Henry Clay. Today, the Committee is chaired by Chuck Grassley (R - Iowa). The ranking Democrat on the Committee is Max Baucus of Montana.
