Trailways Transportation System
The Trailways Transportation System is a group of 63 independent bus companies that have entered into a franchise agreement. The system used to provide coast-to-coast service, but in the early 1990s Trailways' biggest member merged with Greyhound Lines, effectively ending nationwide competition in the motorcoach transportation industry.
Today the various Trailways franchises are spread across North America, generally providing service to areas not served by any other bus company.
