Tonghak Peasant Revolution



         


The Tonghak Peasant Revolution in Korea reached its peak in 1894, when the peasant armies became strong enough that the government of Korea requested military assistance from Japan and China. This request ultimately led to the first Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895).
