Time value



         


The time value of an option is determined by the chance that the option becomes (more) profitable and depends on the time until the expiration date and the volatility of the option. The time value of an option is always positiv and declines with time, it reaches zero at the expiration date. Beside the time value, an option also has an intrinsic value.
