Time clock

A time clock is an informal general name for a form of clock that is designed to measure the amount of time an employee of a business is entitled to be paid.

Generally, the employee records his/her arrival to the establishment, typically known as "punching in" by submitting a card into a slot of the clock in question which marks the time. Inversely, when the employee is ready to leave, the exit time is recorded in the clock, typically known as "punching out."
