Seattle SuperSonics for the basketball team.
The Sonics were a garage rock band from Tacoma, Washington, that formed in the early 1960s while regional favorites like The Wailers and The Kingsmen were finding some national success. Led by Gerry Roslie, The Sonics never found much of an audience outside the Pacific Northwest, but have become a cult favorite for collectors, and are a recognized influence on grunge.
