The Simple Art of Murder is an essay by Raymond Chandler on the art of detective fiction. It contains the aforementioned essay, plus eight of Chandler's early stories (i.e., before The Big Sleep) about the murder of a politician, a hotel detective, missing pearls, and gangsters.
