The Raccoons
The Raccoons is a Canadian animated television series from the 1980s, broadcast from 1986 to 1991 on the Disney channel and by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation at around the same time.
The series featured the adventures of three raccoons and their friends against an anti-environmentalist pink aardvark. It had a new wave soundtrack.
Unlike many cartoon series from the 1980s, The Raccoons was not heavily merchandised. Today it has a small cult following. This series was created by Kevin Gillis.
The enemy aardvark was called Cyril Sneer, and he had three imbecile sidekick pigs with silly voices. One unique element of the series is that Cyril evolves from a unrepentently destructive capitalist to a likable and environmentally responsible, if still highly aggressive businessman. Another baddy was a Crocodile with a Texan accent who was a Capatilist.
