The Private Life of Henry VIII is a 1933 film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. It was written by Lajos BirĂ³ and Arthur Wimperis, and directed by Sir Alexander Korda.

Starring Charles Laughton, the movie tells the story of King Henry VIII of England, and his many wives. Laughton won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Anne Boleyn is Merle Oberon, and Anne of Cleves is played by Elsa Lanchester (Laughton's wife in real life). Another notable appearance is that of a young Robert Donat as Thomas Culpeper, the lover of Catherine Howard
