The Mad Hatter

The Mad Hatter is a fictional character, one of the many foes of Batman in the DC Comics. Dr. Jervis Tetch is a specialist in neuroscience whose experiments with mind-controlling computer chips in rats soon graduated to human subjects. Tetch modelled his criminal persona after The Hatter, the eccentric top-hatted host of the most bizarre tea-party ever in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

In the Batman television series of the 1960s, David Wayne played the chapeaued charlatan in episode #13 ("The Thirteenth Hat") and #69 ("The Contaminated Cowl"). In Batman: The Animated Series, he was voiced by Roddy McDowall.
