The Gateless Gate (無門關, Zh. Wumenguan, Jp. Mumonkan) is a collection of 48 Chan (Zen) koans and commentaries compiled in the early 13th century by Chinese monk Wumen. More koans have been added by later commentators.
Along with the Blue Cliff Record, the Gateless Gate is a central work much used in Rinzai practice. 5 of the koans in the work are attributed to Zhaozhou.
