Texas (sometimes called Another World in Texas and, later, Texas: The New Generation) was a soap opera which aired on NBC from August 4, 1980 until December 31, 1982. The show was a spinoff of Another World. It was unique in that it was the first soap opera to air hour-long episodes from its inception.
Originally, the show revolved around the popular Another World character Iris Cory Carrington, played by Beverlee McKinsey. She moved away from Bay City to live a new life in Houston, Texas. After a year, however, she was written out of the show and the secondary characters seen in the first year were given more story. The show was not a ratings winner, and was canceled after 28 months on the air.
