Terry Waite



         


Terry Waite (born May 31, 1939), CBE (1992), is a British humanitarian and author best known for his work as a hostage negotiator who was himself held hostage in Lebanon for more than four years, from January 1987 to November 17, 1991. Today he is involved with many charities, including Emmaus.

He is also patron of the Romany Society.
