Ternopil (Тернопільська область, Ternopil’s’ka oblast’ in Ukrainian; Tarnopol in Polish; Ternopol in Russian) is a region of Ukraine. Its capital is Ternopil.

Before World War II the area was a part of the Tarnopol Voivodship.

The area of the region is 14000 km², its population (as of 2003-01-01) is 1.1 million people.
