Suur-Helsinki



         


Pääkaupunkiseutu is Finnish for Capital Region (in Swedish: Huvudstadsregionen), which is a set of Finnish municipalities around Helsinki, whose population to a great extent commute to Helsinki for work.

In statistical context, Suur-Helsinki or Storhelsingfors ("Greater Helsinki") is taken to include also the municipalities of Hyvinkää (Hyvinge) and Vihti beside the Capital Region, with a combined population exceeding 1.2 millions.

In the center lies Helsinki Metropolitan Area, a conurbation with close to 1 million inhabitants. With exception for the municipality of Sipoo, all of the Capital Region and Greater Helsinki belongs to the administrative region of Uusimaa.
