Súmate (Spanish for "Join In") is a Venezuelan political group opposed to President Hugo Chávez. In late 2003, the group organized an – ultimately unsuccessful – recall referendum to revoke the remainder of the president's term in office.
The group's credibility within Venezuela was undermined after it was revealed that the National Endowment for Democracy, which is funded by the United States Department of State, had in 2003 awarded a USD $53,400 grant to Súmate for the purposes of "electoral education", which most observers took to mean that the group was backed by the U.S.
