Sugar Bowl

The Sugar Bowl is an annual college football (American football) bowl game played in New Orleans, Louisiana usually on January 1. The bowl is one of the original members of the Bowl Championship Series. The game was played in Tulane Stadium from 1935 through 1974; since 1975 it has been played in the Louisiana Superdome. The Sugar Bowl's corporate title sponsor was USF&G Financial Services from 1987-1995 and Nokia cellular telephones of Finland from 1995 to the present.

Prior to the BCS, the game was traditionally host to the Southeastern Conference champion. In years it does not host the BCS title game and the SEC champion is not involved in the title game, the Sugar Bowl has the option to select that team.

Old Tulane Stadium (demolished c. 1981) was also often referred to as "The Sugar Bowl".
