Straw hat
A straw hat is a large brimmed hat that is woven out of straw. The American style straw hat is associated with rural people. This hat is designed to protect the head from the sun, as well as protect against heatstroke.
The Chinese and Vietnamese people have made a pointed straw hat that is rain-proof and protects them during the rainy seasons. In these countries, such a hat is generally associated with farmers.
The boater (hat), a less-casual style of hat, is also traditionally made of straw and is sometimes referred to as a straw hat.
