Stiff Little Fingers are a Belfast based punk band, formed in 1977.
Taking their name from a song by The Vibrators the Stiff Little Fingers are made up of Jake Burns on vocals and guitar, Henry Cluney on guitar, Ali McMordie on bass and Brian Faloon on drums. Their first self-financed single, Suspect Device was played repeatedly by John Peel leading to a distribution deal through Rough Trade. A tactic Peel has used before in promoting another famous Northern Irish band The Undertones.
Jake Burns, lead songwriter for the group, wrote politically charged anarchistic songs influenced by the world around him, namely events occurring in Northern Ireland at the time (see The Troubles). The bands second single, Flags and Emblems. The single from this album, Beirut Moon, was banned in Britain because it criticized the government.
They are currently on tour in support of their 2003 studio album Guitar and Drum.
