Steve Yzerman (born May 9, 1965 in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada), is a professional ice hockey player.
He is the winner of 3 Stanley Cups, one Lester B. Pearson Award (1989), one Conn Smythe Trophy (1998), one Frank J. Selke Trophy (2000), one Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (2003), and has been captain of his team longer than any other player in National Hockey League history.
He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1983 and has remained there ever since. With over 600 goals, and having led his team to the Stanley Cup for the first time in 42 years, he is considered almost certain to be a hall-of-famer.
