Steve Young (born 1942) is a country music singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is a pioneer of Americana and alternative-country sounds, a vital force behind the 'outlaw movement' that gave support to the careers of Weylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jr. and more. Born in Georgia On July 12, 1942, he grew up in in Alabama, Georgia and Texas, moving from place to place as his family searched for work. By the time he had completed high school, Young was playing and writing songs that incorporated influences of folk, blues, country and gospel that he absorbed while traveling throughout the South. Young is a cultural dynamic in himself as he travels the world, challenges the easy way and evokes the truth of each yearning.
