Steenwijkerland (before 2003 called Steenwijk) is a municipality in the eastern Netherlands.
Baarlo, Baars, Barsbeek, Basse, Belt-Schutsloot, Blankenham, Blauwe Hand, Blokzijl, De Bult, De Klosse, De Kolk, De Pol, Doosje, Dwarsgracht, Eesveen, Giethoorn, Heetveld, IJsselham, Jonen, Kadoelen, Kalenberg, Kallenkote, Kuinre, Leeuwte, Marijenkampen, Moespot, Muggenbeet, Nederland, Oldemarkt, Onna, Ossenzijl, Paasloo, Roekebosch, Ronduite, Scheerwolde, Sint Jansklooster, Steenwijk, Steenwijkerwold, Tuk, Vollenhove, Wanneperveen, Wetering, Willemsoord, Witte Paarden and Zuidveen.
Steenwijk is the largest town of the municipality. Steenwijk received city rights in 1327.
Blokzijl is a small city located southwest of Steenwijk. It received city rights in 1672.
Vollenhove is a town southwest of Steenwijk. Until the Noordoostpolder was drained, it was located on the coast of the IJsselmeer. It received city rights in 1354.
