FC Steaua Bucuresti is a Romanian football club, playing in the capital, Bucharest.
It is the most successful football club in Romania. Created in 1947 as ASA (Army Sport Association), the club changed its name several times before settling on "Steaua" (English: The Star) in 1961.
In 1986, Steaua became the first eastern European club to win the European Champions Cup, doing so in a penalty shoot-out against FC Barcelona. The following year they were victorious in the European Super Cup against Dynamo Kyiv. The club has also won a record 21 Romanian league titles and 20 Romanian Cups.
