Starfire

Starfire is a fictional character, a DC Comics superhero who is a member of the superhero team, Teen Titans.

First appearing in DC Comics Presents, Starfire became a long term member of the Teen Titans.

Koriand'r is a princess of the planet Tamaran, and was in line to rule the planet as Queen. Due to a plot engineered by her older sister, Komand'r, Koriand'r was seized by an evil group, the Citadel. Eventually she was handed to the Psions, who performed many experiments upon her, giving her the ability to emit Starbolts, destructive blasts of solar energy.

Animated Series

Background

In the animated series, little is known about Starfire's past, besides the fact that she is from the planet Tamaran. She is often portrayed as a perpetually cheerful, and sometimes dense, super-powered girl. She's very close to the other Titans to the point of being extremely obnoxious, but also manages help keep the team together.

Blackfire

Starfire also has a sister named Blackfire, who is an infamous galactic criminal, and attempted to frame Starfire for her crimes. Fortunately, her plan was thwarted and Blackfire was arrested by Centauri police forces with the help of the Titans. She is currently still in Centauri custody.

Powers

Starfire has the power of flight, super-strength, and most notably, the power to fire Starbolts, extremely powerful bursts of energy. In the series, it appears that all Tamaranians possess these abilities. Recently, however, after going through the what can be assumed as the Tamaranian version of puberty, which causes strange, but temporary, mutations, Starfire has appeared to have gained new powers. For example, she can now fire Starbolts from her eyes.
