StarCraft: Ghost is a "tactical action" game for video game consoles, currently under development by Blizzard Entertainment. The game is based in the world of StarCraft, a popular real-time strategy game for the PC.
Blizzard, a game developer mostly known for computer games, is taking a step in a different direction by developing it exclusively for the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 console systems. The absence of a PC version, and the change of genre from real-time strategy to action, has aroused considerable protest from StarCraft fans. Blizzard has tried to calm down the gaming community by explaining that the company originally started out in the console business, and simply wants to return to its roots; however, their efforts have not been terribly successful.
Blizzard do not announce release dates for games under development, but it has been speculated that Ghost will be released in 2004.
The main character of the game is a Terran Ghost (espionage agent) named StarCraft: Brood War and will integrate new lore to the StarCraft universe.
