Stanislav Gross



         


Stanislav Gross (born October 30, 1969 in Prague) is the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. A member of the Czech Social Democratic Party, Gross became Prime Minister on July 26 2004, when Vladimír Špidla resigned.

Gross studied industrial school, specialization electric traction and shortly worked for Czechoslovakian state railways company. After 1989 Velvet Revolution become member of Social Democratic party. After heading the young social democrats from 1990 to 1992, Gross became the interior minister of the Czech Republic on April 5, 2000, and a deputy prime minister on July 15, 2002, when the government of took office. During his political career he studied at the Law faculty of Charles University in Prague 1993-1999.

After his appointment as Prime Minister, Gross gave up the post of interior minister when he chose his cabinet on August 4, 2004. Frantisek Bublan replaced him as interior minister.
