St. John of God



         


John of God (originally Juan Ciudad and otherwise called Juan de Dios) (1495 - 1550) was a Spanish monk and saint. He founded the Ignorantine order (Brothers Hospitalers of St. John of God). He is the patron saint of hospitals and the sick and was canonized in 1690.
