Spirit (Stargate)

The "Spirits" are an alien race which appear in the sci-fi television show, Stargate SG-1.

The "Spirits" pose as the gods of the Salish (Native American) people brought to their world by the Goa'uld. A fairly immaterial race, they drove off the Goa'uld, and the principal members of this race have adopted the protective roles, names, and animal-appearances of Xe'ls (raven-form) and T'akaya (wolf-form).

SGC's survey team discovered that the Salish's planet had a rich lode of trinium, and tried to get permission from the Salish to mine it, but the Salish (and/or the Spirits) refused, considering the environmental damage unacceptable. A second team was sent to start a covert mining operation... After some controversy, the Spirits and SGC agreed to go their separate ways.
