South African Grand Prix

The South African Grand Prix was an event on the Formula 1 calendar. It was a popular event, but it had to be cancelled many times due to Apartheid. The first South African Grand Prix was held on December 29, 1962 at a track called East London. It was held there three times: 1962, 1963, and in 1965.

In 1967, the race was moved to Kyalami, where it would remain permanently. A total of 23 Grands Prix were held between 1962, and the final event in 1993.
