Solihull is a metropolitan borough in the West Midlands of England.

The borough contains part of the Birmingham urban area, in several disconnected parts, along with a large rural area.

It was formed in 1974 by the merger of Solihull County Borough and Meriden Rural District, which forms the main rural part of the borough and county.
