Sol Hoopii

Sol Hoopii was perhaps the most famous Hawaiian steel guitarist of the 20th century, at least in Hawaii. He came to the mainland in 1919 as a stowaway and began recording, appearing in movies and inventing his distinctively rhythmic slide techniques. He died on November 16, 1953 in Seattle.
