Slappy Squirrel



         


Slappy Squirrel (voiced by Sherri Stoner) is a character on the Warner Brothers cartoon show Animaniacs. She was first seen in episode 3 in the cartoon titled Slappy Goes Walnuts, which originally aired September 15, 1993. She is a gray squirrel and usually is wearing a green hat decorated with a drooping yellow flower. She also always carries a pink purse and a green umbrella with her that she occasionally uses to hit other characters with.

She was once a major cartoon star during animation's Golden Age back in the 30's and 40's. She is now a bitter, cranky old woman and lives in a tree with her nephew, Skippy Squirrel who loves to hear her tell stories about her acting career. Skippy usually accompanies her on her adventures and his optimism and naïveté sometimes irritate Slappy, but she still shows a genuine affection for him.

Cartoons featuring her generally involve her being antagonized by someone who resents her having been more successful than they were, usually her bitter and half-senile former co-star Walter Wolf. She always outsmarts her antagonist and exacts revenge through cartoon violence and/or her extensive knowledge of cartoon formula. She said her catchphrase "Now that?s comedy!", after getting the better of her antagonist. She also critized any complaints about
