Ski, Norway

The municipality Ski in the county of Akershus, Norway, has 26,155 inhabitants as of January 1, 2003. Its area is 165 km².

Ski is located southeast of Oslo. It includes the villages Ski, Kråkstad, Langhus and Siggerud. Ski is an agricultural and forestry community. As the regional centre of Follo, it is also the trade and commercial centre in this region.

Ski, as most of Follo, lies on ancient rock foundations. Throughout the local authority from east to west there is a moraine left from the Ice Age.

Stoneage tools are still being found when fields are ploughed, and Ski has more than 300 registered ancient historical artefacts. Remains from the Iron Age can also be seen here. In Kråkstad and Ski are two stonechurches from medieval times.
