Seven Sisters station

Seven Sisters Station in Tottenham was named after a group of trees in the locality. Originally a station on the Stoke Newington & Edmonton Railway it opened on 22 July 1872 . The 1872 Platform Buildings, demolished in 1979, were originally accessed from an entrance in West Green Rd. From January 1878 with the opening of the Palace Gates Line , Seven Sisters became a Junction. Passengers services on the Palace Gates Line ceased in 1963.

The first section of the Victoria Line opened on 1 September 1968 and included a London Underground station at Seven Sisters. This station finally became an interchange station in December 1968 when a new second entrance, (Suburban & Victoria Line) was opened, accessed from Seven Sisters Road. The original 1872 entrance closed at this time.

Seven Sisters lies between Tottenham Hale and Finsbury Park on the Victoria Line and between Bruce Grove and Stamford Hill on the Suburban Line operated by WAGN from Londons Liverpool Street Station. There is also a link via South Tottenham to Stratford.

Seven Sisters is in Fare Zone 3.
