Service bureau
A Professional Employer Organization, or PEO, is a service bureau that processes a company's payroll. A PEO is a licensed company that calculates employees' payroll checks. The PEO company takes full responsibility for preparing accurate payroll checks, remitting all payroll taxes to federal and state localities on a timely basis, preparing W-2's and 1099's, and furnishing the owner with detailed reports.
