A type of animal that consumes already dead organic life-forms. These Detritus feeders recycle decomposing organic material, returning it to the food chain. Many large carnivores that hunt regularly will scavange if given the chance, such as hyaenas and lions.
Well known examples include Vultures, , Burying beetles, Carrion beetles, Blowflies, and Racoons.
