Sacred Heart University is a Catholic university located in suburban Fairfield, Connecticut, across Park Avenue from Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was founded in 1963, and was the first United States Catholic university to be staffed by the laity. Although founded as a commuter school, Sacred Heart University first housed residents in 1990.
The "Sacred Heart" is used on the primetime show "Scrubs", where Zach Braff stars in the Sacred Heart Hospital.
